How long does it take for quail eggs to hatch?

Quail eggs typically hatch after an incubation period of 16 to 18 days.

What temperature and humidity should I maintain in the incubator for hatching quail eggs?

The temperature in the incubator should be maintained at 99.5 F, and the humidity should be maintained at 45-55% during the first 14 days and increased to 65-75% during the last 3 days.

How often do I need to turn the quail eggs during the incubation period?

The eggs should be turned at least every 8 hours, but more frequent turning can result in better hatch rates.

Can I use an automatic egg turner for quail eggs?

Yes, you can use an automatic egg turner for quail eggs. However, you should stop turning the eggs on day 15 of the incubation period.

Do I need to clean the eggs before placing them in the incubator?

It's not recommended to clean the eggs before placing them in the incubator. The eggs have a protective coating that helps to prevent bacteria from entering and harming the developing embryo.

What should I do if the eggs start to crack during incubation?

If an egg cracks during incubation, it should be removed from the incubator immediately to prevent bacteria from entering and harming the other eggs.

What is your refund/return policy?

We cannot accept returned eggs due to potential contamination to our flocks. If you are not satisfied with your eggs or experience significant shipping damage, please email us with pictures and info regarding the issue immediately upon receipt of your order. We strive to provide the best service and will work to resolve any issues that you may experience

Do you ship additional eggs?

Yes, we always ship a significant amount of extra hatching eggs in case of shipping damage. We have yet to have a customer receive less useable eggs than they ordered

Does Sandy Soil Farms label hatching egg packages as Fragile?

We label all hatching egg packages with Fragile, Hatching Eggs, and Do Not X-Ray

What hatch rate can I expect?

we have hatch rates above 90%, however handling during shipping negatively impacts hatch rates. You can typically expect a 45%-55% hatch rate on shipped eggs, depending on handling and distance traveled

Do you offer a hatch rate guarantee?

Unfortunately, due to numerous variables being out of our control (Handling, Incubator specs, etc), we do not offer a specific hatch rate guarantee. If you experience unsatisfactory hatch rates, please contact us and we will work with you to solve the issue

How old will my eggs be when I receive them?

All hatching eggs are shipped within 72 hours of being laid. USPS Priority mail delivers in 2-4 days. Even with potential shipping delays, the eggs you receive will be no older than 10 days and highly viable for hatching
